| Northsiders were then in major trouble early in their 2nd innings with Fassifern bowling and catching exceptionally well. At once stage the tigers had slumped to 8 for 41 and the game was thrown wide open. A late batting fight back led by tearaway fast bowler Craig “ mad dog” Madsen got the tigers to a moderate total of 104, with Madsen making a fighting 37. This left Fassifern requiring 208 runs to win. The tigers looked at one stage to be heading for a comfortable victory when Fassifern had fallen to 8 for 131, however their tailenders staged a late fight back to create an exciting finish. The game came right down to the wire with the tigers needing one more wicket and Fassifern requiring 3 runs to win. Luckily for Northsiders, Nathan Hooper clean bowled the Fassifern number 11 and the tigers came away with a heart stopping victory bowling Fassifern out for 205 and winning by 2 runs! Craig Madsen finished with the best figures taking 4 for 45. The game was played with great spirit and sportsmanship against a tough but fair opponent. |
